Odsonne Edouard

Celtic is closing in on a permanent deal for their on-loan striker Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint Germain.

Edouard could well become Brendan Rodgers’ first signing of the summer as a deal of £7 million has been set in motion.

The hierarchy at Celtic Park claims negotiations are ongoing with the French giants, with a deadline of June 16 having been set to take up the option of a long-term deal.

Edouard was highly impressive with the champions as the season unfolded and scored the winner against Rangers at Ibrox in March and then netted two as the hoops defeated the Govan side 5-0 a month later to secure their seventh successive Premiership title.

However, according to Sportsmail, the SPFL champions are full of confidence that the 20-year-old Frenchman Edouard will their first acquisition of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, club chiefs have also budgeted for a £5million upgrade of Celtic Park, with work due to start on a new hybrid pitch, new roofing for the south stand, the PA system and new floodlights on all four stands.

The club is also forging forward with proposals for a full-size indoor pitch and have put in place plans for a hotel.
