Brendan Rogers

There are many things many Celtic fans will want to happen but not all are possible. One of such is the case of Patrick Roberts. The young midfielder is set to return to his club, Manchester City after completing a two and half year loan spell at Celtic. The young English man will not be returning to Celtic next season as confirmed by Rodgers.

In an interview granted last week by Brendan Rodgers, he talked about Roberts leaving for a new challenge but admitted that he will be missed. “We are going to lose Pat, who will go back to Man City. Heā€™s had a fantastic two-and-a-half years and heā€™s been unfortunate this season with injuries and whatnot.”

Patrick said to the club website that he will still feels like part of the family, saying:

ā€œThe Celtic fans are second to none. Itā€™s like a family up here and Iā€™ll always feel part of the family, Celticā€™s been good to me and I hope Iā€™ve been able to repay the fans, the board, staff and players.

ā€œTheyā€™re the reason why I wanted to come back here. Iā€™ve had ups and downs but the fans have been there for me throughout it all and Iā€™ll always be thankful for that.ā€

Celtic will have to build again and the work is well cut out for Rodgers to groom more youngsters for next season. The aim will be to retain the Scottish championship and also do well in their champions league outing. A knock out stage is the least expected to be called an improvement. The likes of Lewis Morgan and Ryan Christie will both hope to have an impactful season and possibly beak into the first team to prove a point.

Ā It will also be a tougher Scottish premier league next season for Celtic with the likes of Rangers investing and getting Stephen Gerrard to manage them. It will however improve the level of competitiveness in the league.
