Tom Rogic

Tom Rogic time at Celtic seems to be coming to an end sooner rather than later. The midfielder has refused to sign a new contract at the club and could be on his way out of Parkhead at the end of the season, according to reports from HITC.

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers wants the future of the 25-year-old sorted out as soon as possible and this could mean Celtic letting him go for the right price.

The news about the Australian refusal to sign a new contract has generated a fuss among the fans with a good number wanting him to go. Rogic have not had the best of season so far after his injury in December kept him out and only return to action recently.

He featured in the Hoops 0-0 draw against St Johnstone for 60 minutes in the Scottish premier league. He was also brought on in the Bhoys 3-0 loss to Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa league round of 32 second leg in Russia on Thursday which he could not help salvage anything in the match.

Now that Celtic are out of the Europa league and have only the league and Scottish cup to focus on, he might be getting lesser playing time especially with the arrival of Charly Musonda.

His decision not to sign a new contract was a surprising one from most fans as he was expected to stay and fight for his place in the team given how he has been out injured more. So, claiming he wants more playing time and not working on his fitness level infuriated the fans and some have said they will be better off without him.

Some of the comments on social media from fans might be overboard but it’s important to point out some of the salient ones. A fan commented that he has only had a handful 90 minutes for the Bhoys with another claiming that he is not too concerned of he leaves as his fitness level is a call for concern.

Wherever Rogic decides to go, he has to work on his fitness in other to get back into competitive shape going into the future and also going into the world cup for his country, Australia.
