Danny Ings

Celtic fans were happy to see their Champions League campaign kick off with a victory.

The Hoops traveled to Armenia to challenge Alashkert in their first Champions League qualifier. Goals from Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest, and Callum McGregor gave them a comfortable win over their host. Celtic are in line to receive a substantial amount of Champions League income if they manage to reach the group stages.

Should Brendan Rodgers find a way around the qualifiers, he should move for a new striker before the transfer window slams shut. With Rangers signing nine new players already, keeping the Scottish Premiership title in the house will even be more difficult next year. To compete well on multiple fronts, finding the net regularly will be of importance.

Therefore, Rodgers should raid his former club Liverpool to sign a striker – Danny Ings. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the Northern Irishman lured Ings to Anfield from Burnley back in 2015. Injuries have been the bane of his Anfield career and meant he slipped down the pecking order.

The Englishman is now set to leave the club in search of game time, and Celtic would be the perfect destination. Ings remains a deadly finisher and will find the net with ease in the SPFL. Still only 25-years-old, his best years are ahead of him.

He bagged 43 goals in 130 games during his time with Burnley highlighting just how deadly he can be. A reunion with Rodgers makes perfect sense for everyone.
