After weeks of speculation, Sky Sports confirmed that PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed to join Manchester United in the summer.
However, the transfer would depend on whether Louis Van Gaal stays at Old Trafford next season or not. According to Sky Sports News HQ, Zlatan’s only condition in joining The Red Devils is that they get rid of their current manager.
It has been constantly reported that Jose Mourinho will be the next man in charge at Manchester United and if that is the case Zlatan will most certainly be playing at Old Trafford next season.
According to Sky Sources, Zlatan has confirmed his agent to discuss the possibility as he is keen on joining Man United next summer. The 34-year old striker still believes he has couple of good years left in him and he can play at the highest level.
He has already played in La Liga, Serie A, Dutch Eridivise and Ligue 1. He wants a Premier League experience before bowing out of the game for good. However, his move to United will only depend on whether Van Gaal remains in charge of Manchester United or not.
The duo had a very frosty relationship during Zlatan’s time at Ajax where Van Gaal was the technical director at that time. It ended up with the big Swed leaving the Amsterdam Arena and join Juventus.
United are in dire need of a quality goal scorer and at present and there aren’t too many better at doing that than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Couple of seasons ago, Man United legend Pete Schmeichel had expressed the desire of seeing Zlatan in a United jersey.
According to Schmeichel, Zlatan has the same aura as Eric Cantona had and it is almost a match made in the heaven. Whether it will come true or not, we shall see it in coming months as an exciting summer transfer awaits all the fans at Old Trafford.
