Yaya Toure will do Manchester City a favor by quitting the club

Time and time again Manchester City have been reminded of Yaya Toure’s self-evaluation at the club with some strange stories coming out every now and then.

Him sulking over a birthday cake made the headlines for all wrong reasons and recently he has bee quite vocal about not getting a contract extension.

According to Sky Sports, Toure’s agent has hinted at buying out his contract and seek a move elsewhere in the summer. Yaya even went on to suggest that incoming manager Pep Guardiola would be lucky to have him in his squad next season.

While Toure’s contribution to Manchester City’s rise to Premier League cannot be denied but if he were to leave in the summer, it would not be as a significant loss for the Citizens as highlighted by the Ivorian midfield star.

Comparing Yaya’s stats for last 4 season

Yaya Toure will do Manchester City a favor by quitting the clubHaving looked at his stats for last four seasons, we can see how his impact has gradually reduced on Man City. He is no longer leading City to win games on his own and has certainly lost the tag of being the most vital player for Manuel Pellegrini.

This season alone, Pellegrini has failed to identify his best position. Be it from the central midfield or the number 10 role, Yaya has looked flat and at times gone through the motion.

He is no longer indispensable at the Etihad and it would certainly not surprise me if he is the first player sold by the incoming manager Pep Guardiola. Remember it was Pep who had sold Yaya to Man City back in 2010 while in charge of Barcelona, and a repeat of the same could be on the cards this summer.
