Kelechi Nwakali and his agent have arrived in London to complete the much anticipated transfer for the 18-year-old.
The talented youngster has been linked with a move to Emirates for last few months now but his commitments with Nigeria U20s. Nwakali has been on Arsenal’s radar ever since being named player of the tournament at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup.
Following weeks of speculation, Allnigeriasoccer have now actually confirmed the exact details of Nwakali’s travel plans to London and the reported contract agreement with the Gunners.
Speaking with Allnigeriasoccer, ASJ Academy CEO Emeka Amajiriaku said: “Kelechi and Allwell Nwakali are in London now, they arrived on Monday. The contract is for five years and they are in London to sign the contract.”
According to reports Arsenal have agreed to pay £2.5million for the 18-year-old star with official signing expected later this week.
Manager Arsene Wenger is still not sure about the role he will offer Nwakali. He can either be included in Under-18, Under-21 or even the first team.
However, for now Wenger would like to see his potential in the Under-21 setup before bringing him in to the first team. Nwakali will become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Granit Xhaka, Ron Holding and Takuma Asano.
