Arsenal are ready to offer midfielder Jack Wilshere a new contract but the Englishman wants assurance from manager Arsene Wenger over playing time before accepting the offer.

The news has come from former Arsenal midfielder and pundit Adrian Clarke, who works as a commentator and analyst for the north London side.

Wilshere is currently playing on loan at Bournemouth and his contract expires at the end of this season. Arsenal want to tie him to a long-term deal before possibly cashing out on him next season.

Face of Football’s take

Arsenal are looking to get some assurance from Wilshere so that when they sell him, Gunners could actually get value for money for their star midfielder.

Wilshere has been in good form this season and surprisingly has kept himself fit and is widely tipped to continue his career at Bournemouth under Eddie Howe.

Wilshere is also linked with a move to AC Milan but will more likely sign a new deal to leave Emirates on a good note.
