Arsenal’s on-loan midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted of being uncertain about his immediate future at the Emirates after the England international is playing his football for Bournemouth this season.
Wilshere arguably played his best game for The Cherries last night in a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough. Following the game, Wilshere spoke on his future with Arsenal and it felt as if he has already packed his bag and is ready to quit the club.
Speaking with Daily Mail, Wilshere said: “I haven’t really thought about my future beyond getting a season under my belt and just trying to improve as a player.
“To be honest your question is a hard question to answer because I don’t know what to say. I genuinely don’t know if I am going to end up at Arsenal or somewhere else.
“If you’d ask me two months ago if I was going to finish my career at Arsenal then I would have said, ‘Yeah, of course’.
The fans have been great to me, the boss has been great to me. I have a lot of friends there. But sometimes that’s the way football is. Two months ago I wouldn’t have seen myself being here, but here I am. And I’m enjoying it.”
Does Wilshere deserve a route back to Arsenal’s team?
Since his move to Bournemouth, Wilshere has managed to play two full matches of 90 minutes which was nothing but a dream for the Arsenal fans in recent past.
As much as fitness may have stopped him from playing regular football, the harsh fact also states that Wilshere will currently be the fifth-choice central midfielder for Arsene Wenger.
Perhaps Wilshere knows that fact and is ready to face the reality and look to play football elsewhere next season than to again fight for his place in Wenger’s starting XI. It would only be fair to say that we may very well have seen the last of Wilshere in an Arsenal shirt.
