Not long ago, La Liga title race was seen as a foregone conclusion but with Barcelona’s horrendous form in recent weeks has allowed Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to claw their back in the title picture.

So much so, all three teams are separated only by a point. Barcelona(76) and Atletico Madrid(76) are set apart by just goal difference while Real Madrid are on 75 points but have the best goal difference among the three teams.

Tonight we will see a rare occasion from now until the end of this season when all these teams will play on the same day. Barcelona will play first when they take on Diportivo while Atletico Madrid will play Athletic Bilbao.

Real Madrid will go last on the night when they play Villarreal which will potentially be the toughest fixture between the title chasing sides. Barcelona have failed to win in their last four league games including their last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Valencia.

Who will win the La Liga title this season?

Onus will be on Barcelona to maintain their lead and make sure their Madrid rivals do not make them pay for the recent slip-ups. Luis Enrique’s side are aware of how dangerous Atletico and Real can be given their imperious recent form.

Atletico Madrid have lost just once in previous 12 league games with last defeat coming against Sporting on March 19. Diego Simeone’s men have conceded the fewest (16) number of goals this season and they also know how to put games to bed.

Like their neighbors, Real have also lost just once in their last 12 league matches and the last defeat came against Atletico on Feb 27. If Atletico have the meanest defense in Spain, Real Madrid are La Liga’s free scorers.

Los Blancos have scored 98 league goals and have the best goal difference (60) among Spain’s top 3 teams. If Barcelona were thinking to cruise their way to the La Liga title then they have been given a harsh reality check in recent weeks.

Tonight will be a crucial night in Spain’s top-flight season when three juggernauts would battle for supremacy and whichever team would finish at the top tonight will have a huge advantage in going on to clinch this season’s La Liga title.
