Premier League 2015/16 season has been a fascinating one with fresh bunch of strikers leading the goal-scoring charts. With 16 games to go, we take a look at who will finish the season as Premier League’s top scorer?
Currently, Romelu Lukaku (15) and Jamie Vardy (15) lead the charts with Odion Ighalo (13), Riyad Mahrez (12), Olivier Giroud (12) and Harry Kane (12) making a strong case to end the season as Premier League’s top goal scorer.
Up until December, Vardy threatened to walk away with the Golden Boot honor after scoring in 11 consecutive League matches. However, Vardy’s run has been halted in recent weeks as the Leicester man has only scored one goal in his last 8 EPL games.
Having seen Vardy fade away, Romelu Lukaku has made a strong claim to finish the season as Premier League’s leading goal scorer after scoring 10 goals in last 12 games. The Everton man has shrugged off his slow start to the season and has been unplayable in recent weeks.
Harry Kane finished the 2015 as year’s most prolific goal scorer and he is slowly getting back to his scoring touch after hitting the 12-goal mark. People had started the speculate if Kane was a one-season wonder after a slow start to the 2015/16 season, however, Spurs hitman is once again piling in with the goals.

One of the biggest surprises of the season has been Odion Ighalo’s form as the Watford man has now scored 13 goals. Ighalo is on a bit of dry run after going goal-less in his last 2 games, however, his deadly finishing makes him one of the top contenders to end as Premier League’s top scorer this season.
The last of the contenders to end the season as Premier League’s top goal scorer is Olivier Giroud. The Arsenal man may have detractors from his own sets of fans, but he has carried the burden of scoring goals in the absence of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Who will finish the season as EPL top scorer?
Having looked at the contenders, I would say Harry Kane and Olivier Giroud have the best chance of topping the scoring charts this season. More than their ability, the real reason lies behind them in form of Christian Eriksen and Mesut Ozil.
Eriksen and Ozil are one of best creators in Europe this season, and if they continue their form in the second half of 2015/16 season, Kane and Giroud would feast on their service.
Perhaps the dark horse in this race will be Riyad Mahrez, as he is entrusted with taking the penalty kicks at Leicester. Given Mahrez’s trickery in the box and Vardy’s pace going forward, Foxes could be awarded a lot for spot kicks until the end of this season.
