Three players who can play as striker in Rooney and Martial’s absence

Manchester United face a tricky away game against Watford with their key strikers Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial ruled out. Rooney is ill, while Martial is nursing an ankle injury sustained in the friendly against England earlier in the week. With these two men ruled out, Louis Van Gaal is searching for a viable option to use up top when his team takes on Watford at Vicarage Road. We take a look at three such options, who could fill the striker void at Old Trafford.

James Wilson – The 19-year old will be an obvious choice for Louis Van Gaal as the 19-year old has the speed and power upfront to do the damage for any defense. Wilson is a bright prospect and one of the stars tipped for future success. Van Gaal could fall back to his young star, who he stopped from leaving on loan during the summer.

Memphis Depay – Memphis has struggled since coming to Old Trafford as he has been benched for last 3 games in a row. In Rooney and Martial’s absence, Memphis could well be a choice to play up top on his own. Memphis has the credentials to success as a striker for Man United as he has speed, he has power and certainly the ability to get pass defenders.

Marouane Fellaini – Experts may have shut the door on Fellaini’s career at Manchester United, however, the Belgian could still play a crucial role for Van Gaal this season. Big Afro star is certainly a presence inside the penalty box and his presence would cause troubles to any defense. If United can get balls coming in from the wings, Fellaini can be an option to play as striker for Manchester United against Watford.
