West Ham vs Arsenal – Three Key questions ahead of the game at Upton Park

Title chasing Arsenal take on Champions League aspirants West Ham in this weekend’s marquee game from Upton Park. Needless to say, both teams will be going all out for the win which would be a great spectacle for the viewers.

Ahead of the big kick-off, we take a look at three key questions which ought to be answered this weekend as Gunners face off against The Hammers.

Payet vs Ozil – Who will shine?

Opening day of the season saw Payet walk away with the honors as the Frenchman tore Arsenal to ribbons and led West Ham to a 2-0 win. Since then Ozil has gone on to notch 18 league assists while Payet has vowed every one with his sublime performances.

Saturday’s encounter will be a fascinating one for both the playmakers as they come face to face with one goal in mind – to win the game for their team. Whoever wins this battle, will go a long way in deciding the outcome of the match.

Will Alexis continue playing from the right wing?

In one of the more obvious strategic changes made by Arsene Wenger during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Watford was his decision to play Alexis Sanchez from the right hand side and use Alex Iwobi from the left.

The ploy worked to the treat and it could see Gunner go with the same strategy against West Ham. West Ham’s right black slot is a weak spot for Slaven Bilic which could see Alexis and Iwobi both take on the defender on separate occasions.

Will refs favor West Ham for a change?

Last two games for West Ham have produced two contentious decisions against West Ham costing them 4 points. Penalty awarded to Chelsea was harsh and then Cheikhou Kouyaté’s red card against Crystal Palace was another big and wrong call against Slaven Bilic’s men.

Those 4 points could turn out to be crucial in West Ham’s bid to finish in top 4 this season. Hammers would hope for a turnaround this weekend as they take on Arsenal in a virtually must-win game.
