When it’s not going for you, it certainly does not. Jose Mourinho learned another chapter of this lesson against West Ham when the Hammer players taunted Chelsea manager of getting another fine by the FA. According to Sky Sports, Mourinho was staying back to have a word with match referee John Moss when some unnamed West Ham players chanted “Don’t hang around there – it’ll cost you another £50,000.”
Mourinho was recently fined by The FA £50,000 for calling a match official afraid to give decisions against Chelsea. Everyone knew that but West Ham players had the exact idea of why Mourinho might have had a go at Moss, who had also one of Mourinho’s assistants in the first half.
Mourinho and Moss share a history where the match official Moss had sent off the Chelsea manager few months back when the Blues had lost 1-0 against Aston Villa. That time, it was Ramires’ red card which had instigated Mourinho’s provocative reactions. Against West Ham, Nemanja Matic was shown two yellow cards by Moss and subsequently it had Jose all riled up and ready to attack John Moss with his words.
West Ham players felt the tension and passed a cheeky remark at the under-fire Chelsea manager. The idea of sticking around to have a word with Moss did not prove to be a good one as it resulted in Mourinho getting sent off to the stands for the entire second half. Mourinho witnessed his side go down fighting to a towering Andy Carroll’s goals and further slip away to 15th in the League table.
