Is Carlos Bacca the answer to West Ham’s striker conundrum?

West Ham are in a bit of fix right now with Slaven Bilic needing a dependable striker ahead of next season but nothing has gone his way so far. While Andy Carroll may still be there, but he is far from the reliable striker Bilic is after.

Carroll does provide some odd moments of spark and excitement but his injuries make him a liability more than anything else. Knowing that, Hammers tried to sign Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette but that pursuit ended with a €31million rejected offer by the Ligue 1 outfit.

For a brief moment, West Ham even considered going after Daniel Sturridge, but then he is only a minute upgrade to Carroll when it comes to injuries so that move was shunned soon after.

According to the latest reports from Italy, Hammers are now after AC Milan’s Colombian striker Carloss Bacca, and something tells me that it is an absolute fit for both club and the player as well.

According to Sky Sports Italia, West Ham have launched a €20million bid to sign Bacca after player’s willingness to quit San Siro this summer. He fancies a move to Premier League and has the best team waiting for his signature.

West Ham will be a different club next summer where a certain degree of expectation will be added to their usual entertaining season. Chairman David Sullivan knows that and that is why he even made his wish to sign a €30million rated striker public.

At this point of time, West Ham have the likes of Dimitri Payet, Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Mark Noble in their ranks. All they need now is a finisher who fits their bill and Bacca certainly ticks all the right boxes for Hammers to go after him.

Will Bacca’s playing style suit West Ham?

To start with, Bacca is a physical striker which is a big YES when it comes to playing the West Ham way. Next, he knows his way towards to goal. From the 50 matches Bacca played in 2015/16 season, he scored 24 goals and was a consistent goal-scorer for Milan.

He is good in the air, he can even dribble his way past defenders and he often stays fit to lead his team’s attack week-in-week-out. With Milan set to go another revamp next season, Bacca could end up being a surplus to the requirements, which will be good news to West Ham fans, who are preparing themselves for life at Olympic Stadium next season.

Apart from signing Bacca or any other €30million rated player, West Ham will need to ensure that Payet stays at the club as he is the one who will end up attracting any quality striker to join West Ham.

At this stage, it does look like Carlos Bacca is heading to Olympic Stadium next season, which could just be the start of an exciting summer for Slaven Bilic and West Ham supporters.
