Celtic’s forgotten man Kundai Benyu has returned to first-team training with the reigning Scottish champions and could make a push for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ team, if the player’s latest Instagram post is to be believed, as per a report.
The 20-year-old midfielder, whose career kicked off at English Championship club Ipswich Town, spent this past season on loan at League One outfit Oldham Town but failed to make an impression at Boundary Park.
Benyu played just five games across all competitions for the Latics, without picking up a single goal and only completed the entire 90 minutes on one occasion.
However, the Zimbabwe international’s Instagram post showed the defender sitting beside the highly-rated Odsonne Edouard in the Bhoys’ dressing room.

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will afford Benyu the opportunity to establish himself as a member of his first-team squad, or whether he would prefer to send the defender out on loan in search of regular game time, yet again.
There can be no doubt that the 20-year-old faces stiff competition to get featured regularly, with the likes of Scott Sinclair, James Forrest, Lewis Morgan, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Celtic. Who resumed first-team training on Tuesday in preparation for their forthcoming Champions League qualifiers, completed a historic double treble last season and Rodgers’ men will be looking to hone their skills even further in the forthcoming campaign.
