Manchester United have been handed a major boost ahead of their clash against Norwich after Wayne Rooney has returned to the first-team training. Rooney’s comeback could not have been well timed after Jesse Lingard injured his hamstring in the game against Bournemouth.

Manager Louis Van Gaal must be delighted with the news as Rooney has missed last 3 games after suffering an ankle injury against Leicester. Rooney has been criticized all season for his poor form, however, in his absence, Manchester United have lost 2 out of those 3 games.

With Rooney set to return for the Norwich game, Juan Mata will move back to his wide right role with Memphis on the left, Anthony Martial playing as the striker with Rooney playing in the number 10 role.

His return will add a degree of potency to United’s attacking line despite his poor form. His presence on the pitch is enough to rally the side and one gets the feeling that with him returning, United will put an end to their run of 5-games without a win.
