Wayne Rooney scored his 176th Premier League goal tonight for Manchester United and by doing so, he broke a unique record for scoring most number of EPL record for one club.

Previously the record was held by Thierry Henry for Arsenal, who had scored 175.

If you go down on the list of finding players to have scored the most goals for one Premier League club, you would find Steven Gerrard (Liverpool – 120), Ryan Giggs (Man United – 109), Paul Scholes (Man United – 107) and Didier Drogba (Chelsea – 104).

The feat must have tasted sweeter for Rooney tonight as it came against Liverpool. The Merseyside born striker hates the club from Anfield and thrives on playing against them. Surprisingly though, this was Rooney’s first goal at Anfield following a 11-year gap.

With the goal tonight, Rooney has now netted in 4 consecutive games, his best run for over 4 years. Sir Alex Ferguson once said that Rooney often goes on a run of scoring for 10-12 matches.

Having seen him score in 4 games on the spin, United fans must be hoping for more from their skipper as they look to break in to the top 4 this season.
