Victor Valdes has agreed to join Standard Liege on loan until the end of this season after spending the last 6 months training all by himself.
Sky Sports confirmed the news moments earlier after an emotional message posted by the former Barcelona keeper on Instagram.
Valdes joins Standard Liege
Message from Valdes read: “Thank you all for these months of hard work for me. I will never forget. See you soon.”
Valdes arrived from Barcelona on a free transfer last summer amid fears of David De Gea joining Real Madrid. In the end, De Gea stayed at United and Valdes ended up finding himself in a tussle with Louis Van Gaal.
Valdes was treated rather harshly by the manager after he was sent to train with the kids after he refused to play in one of the U-21 games. Later on, he was asked to train on his own.
Despite playing the single game for Man United, Valdes will forever remain a fan favorite for United supporters as he never said anything bad about the club despite being treated very unfairly.
Now that he is quitting the club for his own good, we can expect to see Valdes return in frame for the Spanish National setup ahead of the Euro Championships next summer.
