Premier League champions Chelsea have shown interest in Ghana international Richmond Boakye and will be planning to scout the the Ghanaian when he plays for club Red Star Belgrade in Europa League clash against Premier league rival Arsenal.
The Belgrade forward has previously played for Antonio Conte when on a loan to Juventus – Boakye arrived at the Serie A club in 2012 as a teenager but left the club two years later when he failed to break into the first team of the club.
The 24-year-old has been on loan spells in all Europe, failing to impress and show his true potential, has now become a key figure for the Red Star Belgrade, as he bagged 16 goals in 19 appearances for the Serbian club last season before signing a permanent deal in the summer.
According to reports from Daily Mail, The Belgrade star was said to have ignited interest from certain clubs, with Celtic, Crystal Palace and Swansea City joining Chelsea in keeping tabs on the Ghannian forward development.
The Blues will be having scouts in attendance to watch Boakye take on Arsenal in the Europa League Next week.While the Gunners will try to maintain their in the match in Serbia, following their two wins against FC Koln and BATE Borisov. Before the trip to Belgrade, the Gunners will face Watford at Vicarage Road this weekend in the Premier League.
Boakye, so far this season has been impressive for his club as he found the back of the net 11 times in 17 appearances for the Serbian outfit, they are currently standing on top of the SuperLiga, his statistics prove that the 24-year-old could be a good addition to Conte’s squad.
