Celtic had to do it the hard way to earn a 1-1 draw against a resilient Kilmarnock side at their home ground. The draw also helps Celtic preserve their unbeaten record that started last season which they also equaled their own 100-year-old British record of 62 domestic games unbeaten. Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock side will be unhappy with themselves as they were unable to secure maximum points on the day.

Due to Champions league fixture during the week, Brendan Rodgers had to rest some of his first team players for the trip to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena. Six players were rested for the Kilmarnock game.

Despite that, Celtic found their way to create chances and that lead to Leigh Griffiths goal after he had fire past Jamie MacDonald in goal. This was shortly before the half time break. It didn’t take long after the break before the visitors level things as Jordan Jones equalises after he followed up his initial shot.

This became Kilmarnock second draw in two games after Steve Clarke took over as manager. This came as a disappointment for the visitors as they hope to end Celtic’s unbeaten run as they did same to their unbeaten run in February of 1917 in a 2-0 triumph over Celtic.

In was surprising that Celtic started the game on a high but found themselves trying to catch up as the game progresses. Kilmarnock settled into the game after they equalized and they look severally to take the lead. The coming in of Moussa Dembele help Celtic stabilize the game a bit as he offers some threat going forward and in the box of Kilmarnock.

That the game ended in a draw shows that Celtic class was able to help them keep the game level. They now have just a point lead over Aberdeen. Next up for them is their travel to Germany for their next Champions league game.
