Chelsea’s summer transfer plans are expected to go in to over drive in coming weeks with reports from Spain claiming that Atletico Madrid’s recent sensation Saul Niguez could be a viable target for the Blues this summer.

As reported by Spanish journal Sport, Super agent Jorge Mendes is keen to bring Saul to Premier League as he sees the player shine more and reach stardom with Premier League’s global appeal and a certain lack of flair players at Chelsea at the moment.

Given Saul’s playing style and Diego Simeone’s demands, the Spanish star is not guaranteed to start every single week at Atletico. However, Chelsea can do with a player of his skill sets who is known to unlock defenses with one simple pass.

Saul, 21 has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent weeks however, Mendes has found it hard to convince those two teams of Saul’s ability to fit in their system.

Chelsea could be the last resort for Mendes and Saul as the player seeks a move away from Vicente Calderon this summer. Reports suggest that Mendes has put a £68million price on the crafty playmaker which I cannot help but think that it needs to be lowered if he fancies any offers from Chelsea.

Chances of Saul joining Chelsea – 1.5/5

Desperation is one thing but I do not take Chelsea to be making this fool’s call and spending £68million on a player who has virtually done very little apart from his stunning solo goal against Bayern Munich last season.

Yes, he has the potential but certainly not worth £68m at this very moment. If the Blues want to go big in their summer shopping they better spend it on players like Alvrao Morata, Gonzalo Higuain and Paul Pogba, who would bring success to the club immediately.
