Chelsea will submit an improved £35million bid for the AC Milan central defender Alessio Romagnoli and are hopeful of signing the Italian early next week.
According to reports from Mirror, Blues saw their second bid (£30m) turned down by Milan but Antonio Conte’s desperation to sign a new defender has forced Chelsea’s hands in to submitting an improved bid.
It comes with Napoli demanding £60million for their Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and the same club looking to sign another of Chelsea’s top defensive targets, Nikola Maksimovic.
Mirror understands that Chelsea are ready to spend close to £70million in the remaining days of transfer window to give Antonio Conte a more than capable squad to fight for the title.
Blues have already win both their matches in Premier League and have looked as one of the strongest teams to beat this season.
Conte is adamant to add defensive power to his squad and wants either of the three (Romagnoli, Koulibaly or Maksimovic) at the club before the end of summer transfer window.
