Rodgers reveals new left-back to sign

Celtic must find a long-term solution to their left-back crises and signing Southampton defender Sam McQueen this summer could be a step towards achieving that, giving some much-needed support and competition to fan favourite Kieran Tierney.

Tierney, 21, made a whopping 55 appearances across all competitions for the Bhoys last season as they won the domestic treble for the second consecutive year, but Rodgers was very lucky the Scotland international did not pick up any injury as he has no real backup option at left-back.

With Celtic’s style of play, Tierney is such an integral player and Rodgers needs to look into finding a player who can serve not only as a back-up to the highly-rated Hoops star but also to add some extra competition to his spot in the starting line-up to maybe get him playing even better.

Southampton’s McQueen, 23, is the perfect option and Brendan Rodgers would be completing a genius bit of transfer business if he succeeded in luring him away from the Premier League club.

The Bhoys already have a close rapport with the Saints, having traded a great number of players to the south coast club over the years with the most recent being Stuart Armstrong this summer.

But now it’s about time that Rodgers uses the Saints to his advantage and sign fringe player McQueen, who could more than certainly improve his squad.

Celtic must look to get this business done as soon as possible because they have been all too warm in the transfer market so far and a player like McQueen will surely be a target for several clubs.
