Riyad Mahrez confirms Arsenal transfer

Leicester City star Riayad Mahrez remains a possible transfer target for Arsenal, according to reports from Get Football News France.

The Algerian winger who was named as Premier League player of the year has been strongly linked with a move to Emirates this summer as Arsene Wenger prepares to build a strong squad ahead of the next season.

While Mahrez still loves Leicester City but he has kept his options open for a move away from King power if The Foxes are willing to accept an offer. Speaking with the French media, Mahrez confirmed that he has thought about a transfer to Arsenal and is flattered by the very idea.

Mahrez said: “It is flattering to hear, as I said nothing is agreed, nothing is done. We will see… For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see.”

Not long ago, Mahrez’s teammate Jamie Vardy was tipped to join Arsenal this summer as well, however, disagreements over the playing role and love for Leicester City has changed Vardy’s mind, who is now exploring the option of staying with Leicester City for at least another couple of seasons.

Chances of Mahrez signing for Arsenal – 2.5/5

I am really divided on this one, simply because of the intent Arsene Wenger has shown this summer. Regardless of where the Vardy’s transfer saga is heading but Wenger’s strong will of signing big players was clear when he completed a move for Granit Xhaka even before the start of Euro 2016.

Deep down Wenger knows that he has not got too much time left at Emirates before he is either dethroned of his place or he has to leave quietly amidst the changing environment of modern football.

That is precisely the reason why Arsenal will not hesitate in spending big to sign Riyad Mahrez even if t means to splash somewhere in the region of £25-30million. We are divided on this one and are waiting for something concrete to report on in coming days as this deal could go either way.
