A lot of noise was made yesterday when Manchester United’s midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan trained alone at club’s Carrington training ground.
A lot of fans slammed Jose Mourinho for treating Mkhitaryan harshly and not giving him enough opportunities to showcase his talents on the pitch.
However, according to Express, Mkhitaryan trained on his own out of his own wish as he needed some time to regain his focus after making a return from his recent injury.
Later Manchester Evening News confirmed that the playmaker chose to work on his fitness at the club’s training ground as he steps up his bid to win a place in the first team.
A source apparently described the former Shakhtar Donetsk star as a ‘perfectionist’, a ‘hard worker’ and a ‘strong character and real fighter who doesn’t show his emotions’.
Mkhitaryan was left out of Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad for Manchester United’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday.
Mkhitaryan has not played for United since being hooked at half-time during the 2-1 Manchester derby defeat to City last month.
The 27-year-old’s future has looked in doubt despite Mourinho spending around £30million to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
