Real Madrid have opened negotiations with Thibaut Courtois over a potential transfer next summer, according to reports from The Express.
Courtois has often expressed his desires of going back to La Liga with Atletico Madrid also linked with a move for their former player.
However, Atletico’s transfer ban has given Zinedine Zidane’s side a clear advantage in the race to sign Courtois.
Although Courtois has started the 2016/17 in the best way possible, he has often shied away from signing a contract extension with the club.
Real Madrid are hopeful of signing the Belgian next summer in a reported £40-50million deal. Madrid’s number one target David De Gea has settled at Manchester United and is unlikely to leave Old Trafford in coming seasons.
