Marcus Rashford has thrown his name in contention to play in the number 10 role for Manchester United after Jose Mourinho’s recent struggles to find the best fit for that role.
Wayne Rooney has started most of the matches in that position but has been rather wasteful throughout this season. Fans have called for his removal from the starting XI with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Henrikh Mkhitaryan waiting in the wings to make that position their own.
However, Rashford is also willing to adapt to the new role if asked to operate there by his new manager. The 18-year-old striker has enjoyed a stellar start to his United career scoring 10 goals in the calendar year so far.
Rashford knows that playing in the number 10 role will give him a lot of time on the ball where he can dominate the play for his team.
“[Playing as] No.10, on both wings and up front as well. It means I have more in my armoury when it comes to the matches.
“I used to look up to players who would dribble at people, creating chances, scoring too.
“But the type of the player I want to be now is different to the type of player I wanted to be then.”
United’s next game is against Northampton in EFL Cup where The Red Devils need to win the match and put an end to the recent run of poor results.
