Rafa Benitez fired by Real Madrid, Zidane set to take over

Real Madrid board took the decision in early hours of Monday after holding a private meeting in Madrid. The real reason for the decision is seen as Benitez losing out on dressing room and failing to convince players with his negative tactics.

Zidane favorite for the role

According to initial reports, Zinedine Zidane is the most likely successor to Benitez. Former Bernabeu great is currently coaching the Real Madrid B side and is ready to take the next step in management.

Florentino Perez is once again targeted, first of all for his decision to sack Carlo Ancelotti and replace him with Benitez. If that was not all, his plans have gone horrible wrong and as he is about sack another manager just 5 months in to the job.

Some Madrid fans are asking Perez to leave the club instead of Benitez. All that said though, it is almost clear that Rafa Benitez has been sacked as Real Madrid manager with Zinedine Zidane poised to take over from tomorrow.
