Gameweek 33 saw Leicester continuing their march towards the title with a 2-0 win over Sunderland. However, Tottenham are keeping the pressure on them as Spurs got a 3-0 win vs Manchester United as well.
Manchester City pulled clear in their bid to finish in top 4 this season with a 2-1 win over West Brom while game of the week came from Upton Park where West Ham played a thrilling 3-3 draw against Arsenal.
Relegation battle saw Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich all lose their games while Crystal Palace and Swansea securing themselves with a much needed win. On that note, we take a look at Premier League team of the week for Gameweek 33.
Premier League team of the week 33
Defense: Crystal Palace were delighted to see their key man Wayne Hennessey come back to form and pull off two world class saves in their 1-0 win over Norwich.
Robert Huth was inspirational against Sunderland where he put his body on the line to come up with match-winning tackles. Ashley Williams did the same when Swansea defied the odds to beat Chelsea 1-0 at Liberty Park.
Watford stopped their slump when Jose Holebas scored the equalizing goal against Everton in the 1-1 draw. Finally completing our defense for Premier League team of the week for Gameweek 33 is West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell, who once again made a claim for his place in Euro 2016 squad with a commanding display against Arsenal.
Midfield: Can you complete Premier League team of the week these days without N’Golo Kante? Surely not, and it is not a surprise to see him in the lineup after his end-to-end running against Southampton.
Southampton had Victor Wanyama to thank for their win over Newcastle after the Kenyan midfielder came out trumps with a defensive masterclass and the 3rd goal in a 3-1 win.
Alex Iwobi has been a star-turned for Arsenal after putting in another match-winning performance for Gunners in a thrilling 3-3 match at Upton Park. Iwobi scored the opening goal and then set up Alexis for the second. He rightly gets a place in our Premier League team of the week for Gameweek 33.
Attack: Andy Carrol came up with the best individual performance from the weekend with a typical Carroll hat-trick vs. Arsenal. Partnering him in attack and completing our Premier League team of the week for Gameweek 33 is Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
Vardy went on his typical surging runs and managed to come up trumps as he scored both the goals in a 2-0 win over Sunderland. Vardy’s goals see The Foxes hold on to their 7 point lead at the top of Premier League table.
