Harry Kane and Claudio Ranieri have been named Premier League player and manager of the month respectively for the month of March. Given the month Kane and Ranieri enjoyed, this honor hardly comes as a surprise.
Leicester City managed to win four of their five league games in March and are getting ever so closer to an unbelievable Premier League triumph this season. Ranieri has led Leicester’s march towards the title with consistent team selections and sound strategies.
As for Harry Kane, he crossed the 20-goal mark for second season in a row and 5 of those goals came in the month of March. Kane has been carrying Tottenham’s title push this season as Spurs are currently 7 points behind Ranieri’s Leicester.
Despite Kane’s 5 goals, Spurs had an average Month of March where they managed 2 draws (vs. Arsenal, Liverpool), 1 defeat (vs. West Ham) and 2 wins (vs. Villa, Bournemouth).
Both Leicester and Tottenham play this weekend in what could turn out to be a defining week in Premier League title race. While Spurs take on Manchester United where they cannot afford to drop points, Leicester meanwhile will play Sunderland in a game which The Foxes are expected to win.
Tottenham will have to go for the kill and ensure they come away with all three points, or else, we better get the podium ready for Leicester’s crowing as the Premier League Champions for the season 2015/16.
Fun Fact – Claudio Ranieri has now won more Premier League Manager of the Month awards (4) than José Mourinho (3).
