Chelsea 1 Norwich 0 Player Ratings: Jose Mourinho’s gamble pays off

Chelsea have finally managed to get back to winning ways after their 1-0 win over Norwich last night. Diego Costa’s goal on the 64th minute was enough for Chelsea to register their first win in Premier League since their 2-0 win against Aston Villa on 17th October. Manager Jose Mourinho was back in the stands following his one-match stadium ban which had kept him out of the stands for Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Stoke City.

Going in to the game, Mourinho took a huge gamble by playing the striker Kenedy at left-back. Be it the International Break and fatigue to Cesar Azpilicueta or the poor start for Baba Rahman since joining the club in summer. In the end, Mourinho’s gamble paid off as Kenedy played a strong game and saw his club end the run of games without win.

There were a lot of positives during the game and none bigger than the performance from Eden Hazard, who looked his old self after battering the Norwich defense for the entire game. Elsewhere, Costa’s goal was impressive but at times, his antics and playacting were too much to handle. To further assess the individual performance of the Blues stars, let us look at the Chelsea v Norwich Player Ratings.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Norwich

Begovic (6), Ivanovic (5.5), Zouma (6), Terry (6.5), Kenedy (6.5), Matic (6), Fabregas (6), Pedro (6), Willian (6), Hazard (7), Diego Costa (6)

Man of the Match – Eden Hazard was by far the best player at Stamford Bridge on a night when his team needed him the most. The Belgian showed no signs of recent dip in form as he carried Chelsea’s attack on the night and helped Jose Mourinho breath a sign of relief after traumatic recent weeks.
