Louis Van Gaal is living on borrowed time at Old Trafford and tonight is his last chance to impress, if he wants to continue as the United manager. Fear of failure will certainly drive Van Gaal’s team selection tonight. Ahead of the kick-off, we take a look at the Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Derby.

With Stoke’s danger looming large, Van Gaal cannot start his full-strength team tonight and will have to rely on the likes of Memphis Depay and Adnan Januzaj to bail him out of this uncomfortable situation.

Fans have been crying out loud for some exciting football, and have only seen sideways and backward passes in return. It isn’t something, Old Trafford is accustomed to seeing, which has been Van Gaal’s undoing so far this season.

If the Dutchman wants to avoid any catastrophy tonight, he will have to deliver results come what may. Reports midweek suggested of his resignation from the post, but he is still here and has a responsibility to guide Man United to the next round of the FA Cup.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Derby: De Gea, Varela, Smalling, Blind, CBJ, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Januzaj, Memphis, Rooney

Defense: Injuries have struck United very hard this season, specially in the full-back areas. Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young have joined the injury list and it will see Guillermo Varela get a rare start for Manchester United.

Midfield: Michael Carrick has been a sporadic figure at Old Trafford in recent weeks, but tonight will be his chance to prove how good he is on the ball. Morgan Schneiderlin may have been overused this season, but that will not stop Van Gaal from using him against Derby tonight in the FA Cup.

Attack: Adnan Januzaj will have a huge chance to win a place in United’s starting XI with a strong performance tonight against Derby County. Before he was sent on loan, we saw Van Gaal’s intent to use him in the number 10 role.

It wasn’t an effective call from the Dutchman, but seeing his rigid behavior in recent weeks, we might see the Belgian deployed in that position with Memphis and Lingard bombing from the wings. Wayne Rooney will act the as lone striker up top hoping for some service from the players behind him.
