Teams captained by Leukemia survivor Stiliyan Petrov and James Milner went to head to head at Parkhead on Sunday.

Gareth Barry, Henrik Larsson and Robbie Keane lined up for Petrov’s Celtic while Jamie Redknapp, Emile Heskey and Dirk Kuyt were part of Team Milner, who were coached by Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

But it was the performance of Manchester United star Young which got Celtic fans on their feet.

Young rounded Joe Hart to score a first-half goal and their supporters were left salivating.

“Seeing Ashley Young in a Celtic kit. Would love to see that permanently #CelticFC,” tweeted one.

Alluding to Young’s defensive role at United, another said: “Brendan Rogers here getting the best out of Ashley Young, he’s smiling, enjoying his footy and his crossed the half way line!!”

“I’d take Ashley young at Celtic,” added another.

The praise kept on coming with a fellow supporter writing: “Ashley Young looks a natural in a Celtic shirt. Wouldn’t mind signing him to be fair.”

“Any chance we can convince Ashley Young he’s been sold to Celtic & get him a flat in the town until January?” wrote one.

Liverpool took the lead through freestyler Jez Lynch, who sent Shay Given the wrong way from he spot.

Robbie Keane then equalised before Liverpool took over again through a header from 40-year-old Joan Capdevila.

Young then found the net to make it 2-2 only for Capdevila to net his second to make it 3-2 at the break.

Gabby Agbonlahor ensured it finished honours even with a second-half equaliser after being set up by Robbie Keane.
