Moments earlier Professional Footballers’ Association revealed their annual 6-man list for the prestigious PFA Player of the Year award.
Not surprisingly, three Leicester stars Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante feature in the list after their sensational season which could see them crowned as this season’s Premier League Champions.
Further completing the list are Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and West Ham’s Dimitri Payet. The list was revealed by PFA’s official twitter account moments earlier.
To their credit, PFA have come up with the best SIX players from this season and it would be one of the tightest fight for PFA player of the year award in recent times.
Last season it was Eden Hazard who walked away with the player of the year honors while Harry Kane won the PFA young player of the year award.
Among the six players nominated this season, it would be very hard to pick any one forthright winner. Riyad Mahrez with 16 goals and 11 assists should lead the race, but Jamie Vardy with 21 goals would run his teammate very close for the annual award.
Vardy and Mahrez may have scored he goals but N’Golo Kante will lead Leicester to the title after his unreal performances this season. He covers virtually 70% of the pitch every single game and never stops running be it first minute of the last.
Sir Alex Ferguson hailed him as league’s best player by quite some distance this season. However, Kante will be challenged for PFA player of the year award by two of the most crafty playmakers from the 2015/16 season – Dimitri Payet and Mesut Ozil.
Ozil has managed 18 league assists while Payet’s all-round play including 6 goals and 9 assists will be a decisive factor in picking the winner for this season’s PFA Player of the year.
It will indeed be a tough fight between league’s best 6 players and you can know the result on 24th April 2016. The event will be held at Grosvenor House in London.
