Arsenal are linked with a move for highly-rated FC Porto winger Otavio, according to reports from Daily Star.
The report confirms that Gunners are looking to improve their squad strength in January with wing areas being a point of concern.
Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Aaron Ramsey have been used in that role with good effect but Wenger wants to add a degree of ruthlessness to his team which will see Arsenal compete for the Premier League title this season.
Otavio joined Porto a year ago for a meager fee of 2million and has made an instant impact for the Portuguese side.
In the 41 appearances so far, Otavio has scored 9 goals and managed 15 assists which got the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal interested in his signature.
While Man United are yet to solve their defensive conundrum, Arsenal have moved ahead in the race to the sign the 21-year-old Brazilian-born midfielder.
According to Daily Star, Otavio will not come cheap for Arsenal as Porto have slapped a whopping £53.5million price tag on their prodigy and Arsenal will need to break their transfer record to sign him in January.
Chances of Otavio signing for Arsenal – 1/5
I have seen enough of Arsene Wenger to know that he won’t be spending anywhere near the quoted amount for a player of Otavio’s age and little European pedigree.
