Juan Mata is one of the most loved personalities at Old Trafford in recent times. His impact on games may have dipped down a little because of operating from the right wing. However, with Manchester United set for a managerial change, Mata must have thought of better days with a managerial change in plans.
The Spaniard, however, will not be pleased to see Jose Mourinho being the front runner for the manager’s role at Old Trafford. It was Mourinho, who decided to sell Mata to Manchester United in January 2013 after labeling him as a player, who does not work hard for his teams.
Seeing how Mata has failed to dictate play from wide areas or the number 10 role, he may not be a guaranteed stater under Mourinho, if and when the change takes place. For now, he has the liberty of Van Gaal’s selection philosophy behind him but not sure if it is going to continue for long if a new manager walks through the door at Old Trafford in near future.
