Although there have been conflicting reports that Manchester United have also hijacked Tiemoue Bakayoko’s deal, however, the recent development shows that Chelsea are still in the pole position of landing the prolific midfielder.

The Europa League winners surprisingly beat Chelsea to the signature of Romelu Lukaku, despite the Belgian international been heavily linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.

And since the move to sign Fabinho hit the rock, Jose Mourinho have set his sight on signing Bakayoko and reports surfaced in the media on Monday that a fee of €39.5 million have been agreed with Monaco for his signature.

However, Sky Sports Journalist Kaveh Solhekol has rebuffed such reports, claiming Chelsea remains the possible destination for the French international.

Kaveh reported that the 22-year-old play-maker will have a medical in the next coming days with Chelsea shutting the door against any move to Man United.

“Chelsea close to signing Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. Medical in next few days. Medical and deal delayed because of minor knee surgery”, Kaveh wrote on his Twitter page.

Signing Bakayoko will bring relief to Antonio Conte who has been left frustrated with Chelsea transfers this summer.
