Arsenal target and Spanish International star Nolito is on the verge of joining Manchester City after reports of his medical have flooded the British media in last few hours.

According to report from Telegraph, Nolito will become City’s second summer signing after Pep Guardiola sanctioned his transfer earlier this month.

Telegraph understands that City decided to meet his £13.8million release clause after player came close to joining Arsenal on couple of instances in last 6 months.

Nolito was linked with a move to Emirates last season in January and again this summer however, Gunners could never come to a decision of whether or not to press ahead with his transfer.

It gave City enough time to tie down Nolito to a 4-year deal. The 29-year old had a stunning 2015/16 season which saw him score 12 league goals and break in to Spain’s national squad.

Nolito was part of Spain’s Euro 2016 side who were knocked out by Italy at the round of 16 stage earlier this week. With Nolito’s arrival, City are expected to go in to overdrive in terms of transfer business this summer.

Next priority signing is John Stones which could be followed with a late swoop for Paul Pogba, who is also linked with a move to Manchester United.

What next for Arsenal?

Funny how this article started with Arsenal and then became about everyone else but the Gunners. Such has been the transfer window for Arsene Wenger so far where players have either said no to him (Vardy) or he is afraid to splash cash on certain individuals (Lukaku, Lacazette) which has given other teams the chance to move in for Arsenal’s key targets.

If similar trend continues, one can only wonder where Arsenal are headed ahead of a crucial Premier League season. They certainly need new signings to be able to match up with the other growing forces in England.

If Wenger does not dust off that cheque book now, we could be in line to see yet another sorry tale for Arsenal which has rather become a trend in recent seasons.
