Two Last Chances for Newcastle United

Newcastle United looked to be fighting a lost cause couple of weeks ago after defeats against Southampton and Norwich. However, with 8 points in their last 4 matches, The Magpies have once again regained control over their Premier League fate.

With two games remaining in the season, Rafa Benitez would ideally want to win both of their games and make sure he stays at St. James Park beyond the current season and take Newcastle United to new heights.

Gameweek 37 will potentially turn out to be the deciding factor for Newcastle’s survival race. Sunderland take on Chelsea while Norwich play against Manchester United and Newcastle face the already relegated Aston Villa.

While Sunderland and Norwich both are expected to lose this weekend, Newcastle can pull four points clear of the bottom-3. If that happens, Sunderland and Norwich’s game in hand over Benitez’s men will not matter anymore.

Newcastle’s chances of survival have increased with Tottenham’s erratic display against Chelsea. Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Danny Rose are set to miss the final game of the season due to injuries while Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele will be ruled out after FA’s recent charge of violent conduct.

This leaves Newcastle in good hands to get at least a draw from the game against Tottenham and boost their chances of surviving this season’s relegation.

Rafa has got his team playing in the right way at the most important of times, however, it will all depend on whether Newcastle United are able to get a win against Aston Villa this weekend or not.

If they get the all-important win then we can be rest assured of seeing Newcastle United in Premier League for at least one more season.
