Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho is starting to get frustrated with the club’s inability to get the signings of his major transfer targets before the club jets off on their pre-season tour of the USA. The club are nearing the completion of Nemanja Matic, Ivan Perisic and Alvaro Morata but the deals have been held back by different factors.
United finished a distant 6th on the Premier League table last season, and are expected to mount a serious title challenge this season after flattering to deceive last season.
Alvaro Morata is expected to join United in the coming days as his agent has met with Real Madird officials in a bid to speed up the transfer. The Spanish international is keen on a move to Old Trafford as he knows Jose Mourinho well from their time at Real Madrid and knows that ahead of a World Cup year, it is imperative he finds a club that will guarantee him regular playing time.
Transfer fee agreement has held the deal so far, with Real Madrid holding out for around €70m, but United want to beat that price down, though it is believed an agreement would soon be reached.
Chelsea are close to signing Tiemoue Bakayoko which means that Nemanja Matic can make a switch to Old Trafford to reunite with Jose Mourinho who brought him back to English football in 2014.
Matic is a specialist defensive midfielder, who will offer more protection to the backline, and give world record signing, Paul Pogba freedom to roam further up the field. He has also reportedly agreed personal terms.
Winger, Perisic is determined to leave Inter Milan as he believes that the opportunity of playing under Jose Mourinho is a huge incentive to move. He is expected to be signed shortly, as reports in Italy suggest that a transfer agreement is imminent by the clubs for his transfer to Manchester United.
