Trust me when I say this, it took me 10 minutes to pen down this first line because I simply could not get my head around the catastrophic result we just witnessed. Manchester United losing 2-1 to FC Midtjylland has to be one of the worse nights in United’s rich history.
Midtjylland vs Manchester United Player Ratings
The worse part part about the defeat was performance of all United players on the pitch. No one apart from Sergio Romero gave a performance, which was worthy of wearing a Man United jersey on the night.
Players gave away the ball easily, were hurried on by the opponents, did not know when to pass. Let us take a closer look at how players performed on the night in our Midtjylland vs Manchester United Player Rating feature.

It is often easier to criticize the Manager after such a result, but tonight it was down to the players. No one seemed to care about putting in a shift or defending with that extra commitment.
It was almost like going through the motions, and in the end the result nothing but the real reflection of United’s inability to play football on the night.
As for Midtjylland, they deserve every ounce of credit one has to offer. Some of their players (Sisto and Onuachu) were outstanding. Their counter attacking style was way too much for handle for United and despite having the weaker starting XI, Midtjylland were the deserving winners on the night.
