Mesut Ozil’s foot injury has been getting worse and worse after the midfielder has been advised not to train ahead of the game against Bournemouth later today.
Ozil picked up the injury ahead of the Stoke game, where he was left out of the squad altogether. Despite his return against Chelsea, it is still uncertain whether he has recovered from that injury.
Needless to say, Ozil’s absence will be a huge blow for Arsenal as they take on Bournemouth later today in their bid to win the title this season.
The pressure of winning the game tonight is even more on the Gunners after Leicester’s 3-0 demolition job of Manchester City. As things stand, Arsenal trail the table toppers by 8 points and need to win tonight.
A defeat or a draw will put clear daylight between them and Leicester, who top the table with 53 points after 25 games.
Will Arsenal miss Ozil?
Needless to say, Gunners look a different side when Ozil is not playing for them. The German superstar has been in sensational form this season notching up 16 assists in the current Premier League campaign.
With Ozil missing tonight and Alexis still sluggish since his return puts a huge question mark over Arsenal’s title credentials in the remaining 13 games.
In Ozil’s absence, Players like Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud will have to take up the responsibility of guding Arsenal to a win against the Cherries tonight.
