Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny move to Juventus is almost a done deal as the Polish goalkeeper passed his medical in Turin ahead of the move today. Arsenal loaned Szczesny to Roma for the last two seasons and he has developed into a goalkeeper to reckon with. The 27-years is now set to join the Old Lady on a permanent deal.
Juventus said in a statement on the club website:
“Wojciech Szczesny has successfully completed his medical tests ahead of a proposed move to Juventus. The Poland goalkeeper landed in Turin on Tuesday morning and checked in to J|Medical at approximately 1400 CEST, wrapping up his medical later in the afternoon.”
Szczesny will be a backup to Gigi Buffon who will retire come 2018 and he will have the opportunity to be their number one shot stopper.
Buffon who is eager to play in the next world cup in Russia come 2018. Szczesny will be able to grow well alongside Buffon and the veteran as tipped him to be the next great goalkeeper in the world.
Szczesny have been on the books of Arsenal since 2006 and has been loaned out to Brentford in January of 2010 and returned to become Arsenal first choice since 2011.
But his lacklustre attitude on and off field has made him fizzle out of Arsenal during the 2014/15 season. Most notable of his error was in the game on January 1 2015 and also smoking in the dressing room after the match which made the club to fine him £20,000.
Arsenal now have Petr Cech as their lone number for the club as David Osipnan also set to join Fenarbache.
