Mauricio Pochettino is doing no harm to his reputation as being one of the best managers in the world right now. His side Tottenham Hotspur recorded their 5th League win in a row, and perhaps the most vital one came tonight with a 2-1 win over Manchester City.
The victory has taken Spurs within 2 points of the league leaders Leicester, and just 1 point shy from Arsenal, who won earlier in the day. Pochettino hailed the win as a vital one and claimed that the win was lot more than just 3 points.
According to Pochettino, the morale within his side can only get better from here, however, the Argentine was quick to play down the title talks just yet.
Pochettino said: “We are very happy, very pleased, it’s difficult to play against a big team like Man City but the performance was fantastic and I’m very happy for our players.”
On further quizzed upon the title chances, Pochettino stayed calm and ensured that he will not say anything different than what he has been saying over the past few weeks. He has asked his team to remain grounded and keep paying the way they have been in recent weeks.
Pochettino said: “My speech is always the same, we need to keep working hard.
“We need to keep this feeling, keep working hard and keep the right mentality. In football always you need to respect the competition and you need to give your best.”
Spurs are indeed on a run, which cannot be taken lightly by either Leicester or Arsenal. Early last week, I had written a piece why Spurs are genuine title challengers this season, and it looks like that they are slowly and steadily getting right up there in the mix.
If you ask me, because Spurs have the meanest defense in Premier League right now, I would back them to go all the way and clinch the title this season, would you back them as well?
