These days you cannot avoid having Mario Gotze and Liverpool in the same sentence. Ever since since the day Jurgen Klopp took over at Anfield, Gotze has been tipped to sign for Liverpool next season.
Gotze’s horrors at Allianz Arena are well documented and how he needs a new club and a fresh challenge to resurrect his career. Carlo Ancelotti may be the man in charge next season but Bayern’s decision to sign Renato Sanches has perhaps signaled the end of Gotze’s time in Bundesliga.
Many had tipped Borussia Dortmund to involved Gotze in the deal for Mats Hummels, however, that has been concluded without even mentioning Gotze’s name. That has now left the World Cup winner with one plausible option in hand, to sign up with Klopp at Liverpool.
Former Dortmund manager looked after Gotze like his son at Signal Iduna Park and is still very fond of the 23-year old playmaker. Regardless of the limited opportunity at Bayern, Gotze’s ability on the ball can never be doubted. He is one of the most gifted players in modern football and Liverpool would be delighted to see him play at Anfield next season.
Perhaps the final piece of that jigsaw came earlier today when Bayern legend and one of the club’s Directors Franz Beckenbauer advised Gotze to join Liverpool. According to Sky Germany, Beckenbauer admitted that Gotze’s time with Bayern has been difficult and the ideal scenario would be to team up with his former mentor Klopp.
Given how Klopp can do with a player like Gotze’s abilities and how Gotze badly needs a club to kick-start his career, this move looks to be made in heaven. It seems more like a matter of when than if Gotze will play for Liverpool next season.
With Bundesliga done and dusted and Premier League set to end tomorrow night, we can expected a swift deal between Liverpool and Bayern Munich in coming weeks to see Mario Gotze sign for Liverpool even before the upcoming Euro 2016.
Liverpool would like to make sure they give Gotze a fair deal by winning the Europa League final next week and confirming their Champions League berth next season. If The Reds are in Champions League, they will have all the bargaining chips in their favor and Gotze would be delighted to team up with his former manager and mentor Jurgen Klopp.
