Arsenal want to sign a new striker in January and are linked with a move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, according to reports from Italian Press.
Calciomercato claim that Mandzukic is certain to quit Serie A in January with Arsenal and PSG lining up a bid for the Croatian.
The 30-year-old is yet to score for Juventus this season and with Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival, Mandzukic’s time in Turin is more or less over.
Arsenal’s interest is not something new
According to Italian press, Gunners had contacted Juventus for Mandzukic’s transfer earlier in the summer but the Serie A champions were too uncertain to let their striker leave at that time.
In the end, Arsenal settled for Lucas Perez who has impressed everyone during his short stint at Emirates so far. However, Wenger wants to add a potent figure up top and sees Mandzukic as the ideal option.
Juventus may ask anything in the region of £15million for Mandzukic’s transfer but Arsenal could be looking at an initial loan deal before making it permanent next summer.
Chances of Arsenal signing Mandzukic – 1/5
On paper, the move could make sense given Olivier Giroud’s inconsistent form, however, Arsene Wenger has got a set group of players which he would not like to disrupt with a new arrival in January.
Any move for the Croatian will only depend on Arsenal’s injury concerns at the time of new year and if Juventus want to let him leave at that point of time.
