Forget Premier League title, Manchester United will struggle to make the Top 4

Manchester United’s defeat against Bournemouth should not be a surprise as they were missing 9 of their first team players. Add to that, The Cherries were coming in to the game beating Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Injuries are one thing but Manchester United have looked way below par this season as they lack attacking threat going forward. Their play is getting more and more restricted to the middle of park where they keep passing the ball among themselves.

Bournemouth was just another example of their lackluster approach this season. Time and time again, they have been either lucky or very lucky in winning games despite creating very little.

Call it the manager’s defunct tactics or player’s inability to turn games, they stand very little chance to win this season’s league title. It is almost a miracle how they are only 3 points shy from leading the league table.

Manchester United are currently fourth in the table with Tottenham and Liverpool sniffing at the opportunity of hunting the Red Devils down. Given how Spurs and Liverpool are playing at the moment, Manchester United might well finish well below the top 4 position this season as well.

David Moyes was bemoaned for taking United’s season to a new low, well Louis Van Gaal is not far from it either. Just because, he has come with a reputation, he is surviving the indifferent start to the season. It almost feels as if he is short on ideas and certainly short on options to turn things around at Manchester United.
