Manchester United have reportedly set their eyes on Celtic star Kieran Tierney as their plan B, in case they do not succeed in their effort to sign Alex Sandro.
Manchester United are expected to undergo a major overhaul this summer in terms of personnel after the club ended the season trailing 19 points behind bitter rivals Manchester City in their bid to lift the Premier League trophy.
Despite this being the season they finished in their highest position since Sir Alex Ferguson said his goodbyes in 2013, the season finished trophy-less, which is never a good thing for United
As a result, the Red Devils are expected to make a huge investment in the summer, with Jose Mourinho planning to reinforce his defence – sending off the likes of Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind – to give room for quality recruits. According to report, United have identified Juventus’ Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro as a top target.
However, Juventus are known for driving a hard bargain, and United have allegedly lined up Celtic fan favourite Kieran Tierney in case the deal does not come through, as reported by Daily Star.
That does not guarantee Mourinho will get the Scot whenever he comes calling though. Tierney declared his love for the Hoops just last week, claiming he intends to run out his contract (with five years left) at Parkhead.
When a club of United’s stature comes calling, his tone can change though. At 20, an offer like that would be extremely too irresistible for the Celtic star.
No chance KT will leave Celtic for anyone right now. MU will need to look elsewhere.
