Manchester United have agreed a one-year deal to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to Sky Sports.
The report says that United are expected to announce the signing before Euro 2016 as Zlatan is now set to become Jose Mourinho’s first summer signing at Old Trafford.
The news has followed a series of press conferences held by Zlatan last week where he made cheeky remarks about joining United and working again with Jose Mourinho.
However, it seemed rather destined for the Swed to join hands with Mourinho even since the minute he was named the new Man United boss.
Sky Sports are convinced that Ed Woodward is close to agreeing a deal with Zlatan and it could be announced before Sweden’s first Euro 2016 clash against Belgium on June 13.
Chances of Zlatan joining Man United – 4/5
The fact that Mourinho and Zlatan share mutual admiration for each other will make sure this deal goes through. Add to it, Sky’s reports of Mourinho turning down Jamie Vardy for Zlatan makes total sense as Marcus Rashford’s progress may have been hindered by Vardy’s arrival.
However, now United can get to field arguably the greatest goal-scorer in last decade and then he can help the likes of Martial, Rashford and train them to become even better goal-scorers.
On the face of it, the deal seems ideal for both the parties as United will be the most exciting team to follow next season and Zlatan certainly likes to be in the limelight. What better way to enjoy the final seasons of your professional career? Isn’t it?
